HY-BOND GlasIonomer CX-Smart

HY-BOND GlasIonomer CX-Smart is a conventional glass polyalkenoate luting cement manufactured by SHOFU Inc., Japan. It is supplied as a powder-and-liquid system and is formulated for permanent cementation in restorative and orthodontic dentistry.

The cement chemically adheres to dental hard tissues, helping provide a strong marginal seal without requiring a separate etching or bonding agent. Its handling characteristics are designed to provide smooth mixing, controlled placement, uniform film thickness and easier seating of indirect restorations.

CX-Smart contains SHOFU’s proprietary HY-agent, described by the manufacturer as a tannic acid–strontium fluoride–zinc fluoride complex. According to SHOFU, this additive supports acid resistance, reduced oral solubility, mineralisation and a favourable pulpal response while helping minimise postoperative sensitivity.
