CLEARFIL™ SE BOND 2

CLEARFIL SE BOND 2 is the updated generation of Kuraray’s self-etch adhesive system. It separates the bonding procedure into two controlled steps: application of the self-etch PRIMER, followed by application and light curing of the BOND.

The manufacturer describes it as a universal-use, two-component self-etch bonding agent suitable for both direct and indirect restorative procedures. The primer simultaneously treats dentin and enamel without requiring a mandatory phosphoric-acid etching step. Selective enamel etching is optional when clinically indicated.

When used with CLEARFIL DC Activator, the BOND can also function through a dual-cure mechanism, allowing compatibility with selected dual-cure or self-cure composite, cement and core-build-up materials according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Standard Clinical Procedure

For a conventional direct light-cured restoration, Kuraray’s procedure is:

1. Prepare and isolate the tooth.
2. Apply PRIMER to the tooth surface.
3. Leave the primer in place for 20 seconds.
4. Dry thoroughly with mild air for more than approximately 5 seconds.
5. Apply BOND.
6. Create a uniform bond layer using gentle airflow.
7. Light-cure according to the curing-light specifications in the IFU.
8. Place the restorative composite.

The manufacturer specifically instructs not to rinse the primer after application.
