GLUMA Desensitizer

Kulzer GLUMA Desensitizer is a ready-to-use liquid for managing hypersensitive dentine. It is indicated for exposed cervical areas that do not require restoration and for alleviating or helping prevent dentinal sensitivity after tooth preparation for direct or indirect restorations.

The formulation contains glutaraldehyde and HEMA—2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate. It works by precipitating proteins within dentinal fluid, reducing dentine permeability and partially occluding the peripheral dentinal tubules. This helps restrict the fluid movement associated with dentinal sensitivity.

GLUMA Desensitizer works inside the dentinal tubules rather than creating a thick surface coating. It can therefore be incorporated into restorative workflows and used with common dental adhesives, resin-based luting materials and restorative materials according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

The 5ml drop-control bottle provides controlled dispensing and requires no mixing or light curing. Kulzer states that the bottle can provide up to approximately 220 drops, depending on the dispensing pressure. View the official Kulzer product information.
